GeekScope vs AcademicLabs

AcademicLabs is the broadest of the research databases, covering labs, companies, patents and news, and one plan covers your whole company.[1] GeekScope is narrower on purpose: researchers chosen for track record, an AI assistant that does the work, and outreach built in.

Who each is for

AcademicLabs helps life-science sales and BD teams find leads from "150.000 Labs to 18M researchers, and 70.000+ BioPharma Companies" (self-reported), including startups and spinoffs.[1]

GeekScope is for small and mid-size teams that sell to researchers and need the right people, their evidence and the outreach in one place.

Where AcademicLabs is stronger

Breadth.

Research groups, university and company profiles, patents, ongoing projects, clinical trials from 20 registries, and press-release news. If you scout early-stage companies or licensing partners, there's more here.[2]

  • Price for a whole team. Its comparison page says SME plans start at €5,000 a year, and "everyone gets access to the platform, not just 1 or 2 users." For a team of several people, that's less than GeekScope.[2]
  • Bulk AI research and emails. It drafts tailored emails and LinkedIn messages for up to 1,000 companies or 2,000 researchers at a time, ready to export.[1]

Where GeekScope is different

  • Who's in the index.

    We hold 9,060,306 researchers chosen for a track record: 78% have 10 or more papers, and most of the rest led a paper of their own since 2021. Lists start with the people who run the work.

    As of 31 Oct 2026

  • Your assistant does the whole job,

    from search to campaign, in ChatGPT or Claude, included in every seat.

  • Monthly, with no annual commitment.

    Billing is monthly and you can cancel any time.

  • Sending, not just drafting.

    With Beanstalks, campaigns go out from your own mailboxes and the replies come back sorted, or LeadGeeks runs it for you.

Quotes on the main site. A comparison page says SME plans "Start at € 5.000/year", with access for everyone at the company; Enterprise: "Contact us."[2] $299 per seat per month, AI included, no credits. Monthly billing, cancel any time.

Choose AcademicLabs if…

  • you need patents, company profiles and news alongside the research;
  • you're scouting startups or licensing partners rather than selling to labs;
  • an annual company-wide licence fits your budget better than per-seat billing.

Choose GeekScope if…

  • you sell to researchers and want lists that start with the people who decide;
  • you'd rather ask your AI assistant than learn another interface;
  • you want the emails sent, and the option of a team to run it.
